December 2007
Email Edition: http://www.texas.sierraclub.org/pineywoods
Join us for the annual Pineywoods
Sierra Group Christmas Party on Saturday, December 8 at 4 p.m. Bring a potluck
dish to share and your favorite beverage. Hosted by Marilyn
Eanes, 609 E. Hospital St., Nacogdoches. Please do not
park in the driveway.
Nine Flags Festival—we will be sharing a table with
Austin Heights Youth on
Saturday, December 1 from 2-9 p.m on the square in Nacogdoches.
We will sell calendars, bumper stickers and baked goods.
This is a good opportunity for us to be visible in our
community, and maybe sell a couple of calendars. Last year
the baked goods sold very well. If you would like to donate
baked goods, or spend an hour working the table, please
send me an email. If you can’t volunteer, come by
and visit or pick up a calendar.
Calendars are available at
the Farmer’s Market every
Saturday morning. We will have some at the Nine Flags Festival
and at the Christmas party. ( Or send an email to
baggett@awesomenet.net and
I will meet you at Java Jack’s.)
There will be no regular meeting or
outing this month.
Relax and enjoy the holidays!
Email changes:
Despite my attempts to clean up my email system, one of
the last group messages that I emailed out landed in my
spam box. Since I don't know how to control this, and I
have no way of knowing who actually receives these messages,
I am forced to change methods. I have opened an account
with google groups.
This is an interactive message board---all members can
post or reply to messages. I have specified that the list
be private, and the members and archives be available only
to other members, and not searchable on the web. It is
an invitation-only list.
Two easy ways to join:
1.
Email me
and ask to be a member of the google group. I can sign
you up.
2. Otherwise, I will send you an invitation-- it will say " Google
Groups: You've been invited to Pineywoods Sierra Group".
It will require a few minutes on your part to join the
group, and possibly set up a google account. I
will NOT add anyone to the group membership without being
asked.
Once this is completed, it should be an easier and a more
democratic means of communication. Watch your email box
for an invitation from google groups. I hope to phase out
traditional emails by February.
Check this out:
Julie Shackelford, who gave our November program, and her
husband Cliff have a business building owl
houses. Check
out their website: http://www.owlshack.com/index.html
Thank you to those who have joined our new google
group.
The easiest way to join is to reply to this email and state
that you want to be put in the google group. I'll do the
rest. Otherwise, you will be receiving an invitation to
join with instructions. Please join---as soon as I have
a majority, I will stop sending traditional emails.
