Memorial Park
Encompassing almost 1500 acres inside Loop 610 at Woodway, Memorial is one
of the largest urban parks in Texas. North of Memorial Drive is an 18-hole golf
course and a 3-mile crushed granite jogging track. South of Memorial Drive, wooded picnic
sites provide a tranquil spot for a Sunday lunch. Memorial Park was once the site of
Camp Logan, a WWI training camp.

Terry Hershey Park
Winding along Buffalo Bayou from West Beltway 8 to
Highway 6 and north along South Mayde Creek to I-10, Terry Hershey Park was first
envisioned in 1985. Twelve miles of hike and bike trails are the centerpiece of the
park, but the section between Memorial Drive and I-10 also features a playground, picnic
tables, a gazebo and a walk-in sundial. Wooden bridges carry the trail over
waterways. Parking is available off the Beltway 8 frontage road at Buffalo Bayou, north of
Memorial between Eldridge and Highway 6, south of I-10 between Eldridge and Highway 6, and
Highway 6 at Buffalo Bayou. Note: Parts of the
trail west and north of Eldridge are under construction through 2008. More

George Bush Park
George Bush Park occupies about 1/2 of the
land designated as the Barker Reservior and is the largest park in Harris County at 7800
acres. Visitors will find almost 11 miles of hike & bike trails among other
amenities. A 4-mile long paved hike & bike trail has recently been completed
connecting the Terry Hershey Park trail on the east with Sport Park on the west.
Parking is available along Highway 6 at both Buffalo Bayou and Briar Forest, north of
Westheimer Parkway at Barker Cypress, and at Sport Park - near Barker Cypress and
I-10. Before you go, check the USGS
site to view the reservoir storage level. If the level is above 87.5 feet,
water can be expected to cover the trail in some areas. More
