The
Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club consists
of over 25,000 members and supporters. The
Chapter spans the entire state of Texas, excepting
El Paso, which is part of the Rio Grande Chapter.
Located in Austin, the Lone Star Chapter's State Conservation Office
serves Sierrans as their grassroots communications center. We also provide
Sierrans with a full time professional activist staff employed to represent
Sierrans as we fight at the state level to protect and conserve Texas'
diverse and valuable natural heritage.

FOR 2012 LONE STAR CHAPTER AWARDS
DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: March 11, 2013
The Lone Star Chapter of the
Sierra Club annually recognizes Sierra Club
members and others who have done outstanding
work in pursuit of environmental protection
or in furthering the goals and activities of
the Sierra Club. Most of the nominations for
these chapter awards come from chapter and
group leaders. The Lone Star Chapter is asking
you to nominate possible winners of the 2012
awards, to recognize work done or continued
in 2012.
The deadline for nominations for the
2012 awards is March 11, 2013. This deadline
is necessary in order to give the Chapter Awards Committee
time to review the nominations, make their selections, consult
with the Chapter Executive Committee, and make arrangements
for the award winners to attend the presentation.
To aid you in making nominations for these awards, the following
pages have been constructed: (1) a description of the various
Chapter awards,
(2) a list of previous
recipients of those
awards, and
(3) a nomination
form.
The 2012 awards will be
presented at the Chapter Awards Dinner Saturday,
April 6, 2013 in Austin).
It is important that our volunteers and other people who
give their time to the work of the Sierra Club or to environmental
protection and natural resource management in general are
recognized for their efforts. They are the foundation on
which the Sierra Club and protection of the environment.
Giving awards is one way we honor these people. Please take
a few minutes of your time to think of people who deserve
recognition, and submit your nomination(s).
