fourth of july holiday bus bus trip to pecos wilderness

Lake in Pecos WildernessJoin us for one of our most popular summer trips and escape the scorching heat of North Texas.  The Pecos Wilderness is an absolutely breathtaking, pristine wilderness near Santa Fe, New Mexico.  You will love the awesome views, fantastic wildlife, and great climate.

Instead of our usual 4 day trip to the Pecos, this year we are doing something special.  We've added an extra day to our trip.  With five days in the wilderness, you'll have more time to watch for wildlife, enjoy the magnificient mountain wildflowers, open meadows, dense forests, and majestic mountains.

With the high price of gas, you can't go wrong by letting our chartered bus and professional driver wisk you away on an unforgettable summer backpacking vacation.

This trip will fill fast, so click over to our outings page for full details.  You'll also find a few pictures from past trips and a top-10 list of reasons to visit the Pecos Wilderness.

next dallas sierra club general meeting: tuesday, june 10 at 7 pm (refreshments at 6 pm)

If you are interested in some of the ways we might begin to solve global warming, you won't want to miss the June General Meeting.  Sierra Club activist Terry Moore will offer a presentation titled "Introduction to Carbon Markets - A Beginner's Guide from a US perspective." Terry notes that we all read about cap-and-trade, carbon trading, and voluntary offsets in various media reports, but it can be confusing. Terry’s presentation will explain the key terminology, briefly touch on some of the history of the Kyoto Protocol, and what the rest of the world is doing to combat pollution. Then he will wrap up with an update on the efforts here in the US to begin mandatory regulation of greenhouse gas emission using the cap-and-trade approach. When the cap and trade legislation officially becomes law, it will affect all of us, so consider June 10th as your chance to learn about what’s coming to all of us in the near future.

Click on over to our General Meeting page for full details about our program. We also have directions to the meeting, including a map.

Everyone is welcome. You don't have to be a Sierra Club member.

Join us for refreshments before the meeting. We know it is hard to get off work, get something to eat, and make it to the Sierra Club meeting on time.  And you can get mighty hungry if you wait until after the meeting to eat. Starting at 6:00 pm, we'll help tide you over with refreshments.  After the meeting, we'll meet at a local restaurant for food and fellowship.
