Who Is The Dallas Sierra Club and Why We Matter...
There is so much beauty in North Texas. From the people to the places they inhabit, there are rich cultures and communities; vast spaces and urban centers; and blends of histories and cultures. The Dallas Sierra Club is proud to support and assist all our communities and to help them to protect their individualism while also creating an environment free of industrial pollution, impure air, and contaminated soil. We also believe that the best way to honor the environment is to get out in it! The Dallas Sierra Club does this by hosting local and out of town hikes, explorations of wild spaces, and urban outreach to engage those who may not have equal opportunities to surround themselves with green.

Dallas Sierra Club General Meeting via Zoom - Tuesday, April 9

Bears Ears National Monument

Bears Ears National Monument

Bears Ears National Monument was established by President Barack Obama in late 2016. Just a year later, President Trump decimated the monument by reducing its size by an unprecedented 85%. Fortunately, President Joe Biden restored the monument in late 2021.

When most Americans think about Southern Utah, the fantastic National Parks (Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion) come to mind. But Bears Ears National Monument is every bit as awe-inspiring. You won’t find fancy visitor centers, historic lodges or manicured campgrounds, but if you are willing to spend some time exploring, you will find fantastic scenery, breathtaking views and a huge area full of Native American ruins and rock art.

Come on a tour of Bears Ears National Monument with long-time Dallas Sierra Club outings leader Arthur Kuehne as he shares photos from his trips hiking the canyons and visiting ruins and native pictographs. He will also share photos from a National Sierra Club service trip he participated in last September. After you see this presentation, you’ll want to add Bears Ears to your future vacation plans.

7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 9 via Zoom

From 6:45 to 7:00 p.m. you can log in to the meeting, chat, and ask questions. The meeting will begin at 7:00 with announcements, followed by our speaker's presentation.

To register for the meeting with Zoom, click on this link.

Everybody is welcome. You don't have to be a Sierra Club member.
