grassroots

Did you know that the Austin Sierra Club is a truly "grassroots" organization? All officers and chairs are volunteers. We have no paid lobbyists for the local Austin group, no paid administrative positions, no staff lawyers, no huge corporate backers. We are simply the voice of people who give a damn about the environment. If the idea of helping your fellow man and the future generations of Americans who will benefit from your timely action to save our threatened environment appeals to you, join us and do something good for your mother.

meetings - places and times

General meetings are held monthly on the first Tuesday evening of the month. General meetings are usually held at the The TSTA Auditorium, located at the corner of 12th and Lavaca in downtown Austin. See the General Meetings page for details.

Doors open at 6:30 PM to allow time for socializing and signing up for outings; the program starts at 7:00 PM. Programs are normally presentations by local experts on environmental areas of interest to both members and non-members concerned about environmental issues.

Exceptions to this meeting pattern are special meetings like the "My Five Favorite Slides" (January) and the annual Sierra Club picnic (August at a local park).

NOTE: The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 PM so that we can be out of the room by 8:45 PM.

We urge you to bike, carpool or use Capitol Metro to come to the meeting (UT Shuttle Routes LA or ER). Be a part of the solution!

In the lobby of the LCRA Hancock Bldg after the monthly general meeting. Everyone is welcome. See the ICO page for more information.

The committee meets quarterly at St John's Community Center. See the ICO web page for details, or e-mail for info.
