TonyTony is one of the Austin Sierra Club's most experienced leader and has led a large number of trips for the Austin group as well as several for the National Sierra Club. In the past, he has led a number of backpacking trips into the national parks in California and Montana (Glacier National Park) as well as several cross-country ski trips in the mountains near Lake Tahoe.

John Yarber

John Yarber, Glacier NPJohn is a long-time member of the Austin Sierra Club and one of the most experienced major trip leaders in the Club. He has led the following major trips for the Austin Sierra Club:

  • Big Bend (Primary) - 1990, 1992,1999, 2002, 2003
  • San Juan Mountains, Colorado (Primary) - 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004
  • Ouchita Mountains, Arkansas (Primary) - 1992
  • Ozark Mountains, Arkansas (Primary) - 1994
  • Bandelier, NM (Primary) - 2002
  • Kauai, Hawaii (Primary) - 1998
  • Guadalupe Mountains (Primary) - 1992, 2000
  • Olympic Peninsula (backpack) - 2001, 2007
  • Escalante (primary/backpack) - 2001, 2003, 2006
  • White Mountains, NM (Primary) - 2004

    John usually leads the longer and more strenuous hikes; he's led the climb of Mt Sneffels on several occasions, the Buckskin Gulch backpack (three times), and an Olympic park backpack. He has also led or assisted with many of the shorter trips, bike rides, hikes, and campouts to the local state parks.
